Vishwakarma Yojana: To support traditional artisans and craftspeople, the Prime Minister of our country, Mr. Narendra Modi, has introduced the Vishwakarma Kaushal Samman Yojana. Through this scheme, individuals from the Vishwakarma community who are engaged in various small-scale professions will have the opportunity to access low-interest loans. Additionally, the government will provide them with training to enhance their skills. This initiative aims to not only boost their work but also empower them to expand and improve their businesses.

During his speech on August 15th, India’s Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the Vishwakarma Scheme and shared its launch date. The scheme is scheduled to commence on September 17, 2023, coinciding with Vishwakarma Jayanti. Geared towards assisting artisans engaged in small-scale work, this scheme is anticipated to bring significant advantages to countless families across the nation.

The aim of this scheme is to enhance both the availability and quality of products and services crafted by small artisans, traditional craftsmen, and artisans all over the country. Apart from this, training and financial assistance will also be provided to small artisans under this scheme.

The key Features of Vishwakarma Yojana are as follows –

• The first mention of this scheme was given by the Finance Minister, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman did it in her budget for 2023-2024.
• The budget of this scheme is Rs 13,000 crore and this amount will be used for the welfare of small artisans.
• This scheme will directly benefit the people belonging to 140 castes of Vishwakarma Samaj.
• Under this scheme, the people involved in Kargil will also get practical training.
• Small artisans will get financial assistance by giving loans up to Rs.2,00,000.
• The purpose of this scheme is to create job opportunities and provide financial support within the Vishwakarma society.
• Almost all the workers of the Vishwakarma community will be able to take advantage of this scheme.
• People making goods using traditional tools will directly benefit from this scheme.
• This scheme will help traditional artisans in marketing their products.

Vishwakarma Yojana Eligibility

The Eligibility Criteria for the Vishwakarma Yojana are as follows –

• This scheme is for small craftsmen and artisans associated with 18 traditional professions of India, The person who is associated with any one of these 18 professions, only then he will be eligible to take advantage of this scheme.
• The person participating in this scheme must be a resident of India, only then he can participate in this scheme.
• To participate in the scheme, it is necessary for the candidate to have the necessary documents.

Vishwakarma Yojana Online Registration

The Government of India is going to start Vishwakarma Yojana from the 17 September 2023 for small artisans and artisans doing traditional work but online registration has not been started yet. Its registration will start only after the official launch of the scheme.
